Entrepreneur Jeff Marine manages two clothing companies, JEM Sportswear and Awake Inc. He is also committed to supporting his community and belongs to the Board of Directors for the Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School and served one term as president of the board.

Located in Northridge, California, the Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is an independent Jewish day school that encourages students to embrace independent and critical thinking. The school greatly benefits from the generous contributions of supporters who provide support to the Heschel Fund. Last year, 83 percent of all parents donated to the fund. All donated money goes directly to the school operating costs. Parents can choose to designate their gift to a specific area, such as technology or Judaic studies, or can make a general donation. Parents are invited also to attend fundraising events, such as the Fall Boutique and the Annual Gala, where they can socialize with other parents while supporting a good cause.

As President and CEO of apparel manufacturer JEM Sportswear and its women’s division, Awake, Inc., Jeff Marine oversees the production of trend-current apparel for a variety of markets. He distributes widely to mass merchandisers, mid-tier, department, and high-end retail locations.

This year, designers have broken the stereotype of pastels and floral prints for spring and focused on bold black and white prints. Brought to the forefront by designers such as Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs, the black and white trend offers a high-contrast look that can be worn for work or play. The black and white look also works well with the trend toward stripes that many top designers introduced this year.

Another spring fashion trend, the Bermuda short, also offers versatility and wearability, as well as a chic look. In addition, the Bermuda short calls to mind another runway trend, the shorts suit, which may well dominate retail racks across the market come spring.
